It has been a crazy couple of weeks. Out of town both weekends for soccer tournaments. But being around competitors for a couple of weekends I've noticed a few things. When watching the players compete you can spot the athletes who have talent and drive, or might not have as much talent but they do have drive, or those who have talent and lack of drive.
When you watch from that perspective it is increasingly apparent who fits into those different columns. So the question is this, which column do you fit in? I'll be blunt and honest, I believe I fit into the talent and lack of drive. My goal this year is to use my talent by forcing myself to have more drive. I may not be a soccer player, but I understand that I am not living my life at my potential. Are you?
Are we living 90% at our 20% potential? That's the easy life, and the life that is mundane. I admit I live in that realm a lot of the time, as do most of us. Why do we live there? Because it is easy, we don't have to push ourselves, we can coast through life in that arena. We need to start listening to the voice in our head that tells us we aren't living up to our potential. We all have that voice, we just push it to the side because we know what it is saying is going to be difficult. We as humans like to take the easy route, because well....it's easier.
So ask yourself these questions today and be brutally honest with yourself.
Are you living 90% of your life at 20% of your potential?
Are you willing to push yourself outside of the comfort box to be great?
Do you want more from yourself?
Are you willing to push yourself mentally to do more?
Write down your answers and look at them, so that you can be honest with yourself. I know most of us have a lot more potential in us, we just don't want to do the work that is required. My goal for the next couple of months is to push myself physically to be in the best overall shape of my life by my birthday on June 7th. Is this going to take some serious mental fortitude? Heck yes, but my mind is set and I have a vision of what that accomplishment will feel like. Also, in the period between now and June 7th, I plan on doing the Goggins 4x4x48 challenge. It's 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours, and it WILL be brutal, but I want to do it!
What do you want to do?
